Create a creepy, but delicious treat for your Halloween gathering.
Our theme for our Halloween party this year was Die Laughing. I wanted to create food that was funny and got a laugh out of guests. These simple, sweet cigarettes were perfect. They are so quick and easy to prepare and look quite authentic, especially in the lower lighting of our party food table. They can also be prepared in advance which leaves more time for costuming and other last minute things.
Pretzel Cigarettes
Ingredients
- pretzel sticks
- white chocolate
- white sugar
- activated charcoal powder
Combine white sugar and charcoal at a ratio that turns the sugar a dark grey.
Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler. I used one box of white chocolate to create a whole pan of cigarettes.
Dip each pretzel in the white chocolate and use a spoon to spread it evenly.
Dip the chocolate end of the pretzel into the charcoal sugar.
Set the dipped pretzel on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.
Repeat until the chocolate is gone. Place the pretzels close to one another on the cookie sheet.
Chill.
Take the extra charcoal sugar and blend it in a blender to create ash.
To serve:
Place the ash in an ashtray. Place some “cigarettes” on the ashtray and scatter the rest around in on a platter.
