Here is my Halloween Bucket List for this strange Halloween year in 2020.

Watch Halloween is Grinch Night.
I just came across this recently and was excited since How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a Christmas Eve tradition in my house.

Update: We watched it the morning after Halloween. I have to say, it’s weird, and not in a fun way like most things Seussian. Glad it’s off my list; I won’t be watching it again. I will, however, be keeping up the tradition in my house of watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas each Christmas Eve.

Carve a pumpkin.
This probably doesn’t sound like a challenging goal, however, so many Halloween nights go by and I don’t get time to carve a pumpkin, usually because I’m so busy with all the other party details. This year being the strange year that it is, I plan and hope to create a Jack-O-Lantern!
I did it! We had a small pumpkin-carving get-together. I roasted up all the seeds the next day.
-
Watch horror movies every weekend.
So far, so good. We’ve watched horror movies each of the first two weekends in October. I chose a really loose theme for movies this year. Each week we vote on 1 old movie (from the last century) and 1 new movie (2000 until now). Week one we watched The Evil Dead and Crawl and week two we watched An American Werewolf in London and Train to Busan.

Yes! The rest of the month we watched The Lost Boys, The Dead Zone, Manhunter, Evil Eye and Countdown. Started Hubie Halloween just for fun, but couldn’t do it!
-
Watch the Halloween episodes of Modern Family.
We love this show as a family. I think a great new tradition would be to watch just the Halloween episodes on Halloween or the day after when we are all tired from our party and just hanging out together. Netflix just came out with all the seasons so this should be easy!
We got through 3 of the 6! I’ll add the rest to the bucket list for 2021.
-
Save $ on Halloween.
Since my income has largely disappeared during the pandemic, spending less money on Halloween is rather a necessity. In normal years I don’t really budget well and my Halloween addiction leads to some overspending on this holiday. This year all Halloween plans are pretty simple – we are having a very small gathering with just people in our bubble and guests are encouraged just to wear their favourite costume from a past year.
Absolutely, without a big party this year we save A LOT of money. Fingers crossed for a big celebration next year.
-
Play Halloween Games.
This is one of my favourite things to do any time of year. Creating themed games is what I love to do which is why I created Halloween Party Games. We’ll be played at least 3 of the games, including this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBxXdVZ6tKY from my book this year.
Throughout October and on Halloween we played: Halloween Scattergories, Halloween Buzz, Truth or Scare, Best Sucker and Halloween Would You Rather.
-
Bake Halloween Treats.
I also plan to develop recipes for the Halloween Cookbook I plan to make!
Well, I didn’t get through as much as I would like, but November will be filled with Halloween kitchen creations.
-
Create and Drink Creepy Cocktails.
We usually spend a night before our party testing out drinks so that they are perfect for the party guests. This year I plan to do a better job of writing down each recipe and taking photos!
I made a bloody red drink for the Best Sucker game – 1 part raspberry vodka, 3 parts cranberry juice and 1 part pomegranate juice.
-
Read a horror book.
I just finished Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill and am starting The Outsider by Stephen King.
Reading The Outsider still. Next book House of Leaves.
